girl's day out

Waiting
dipping
running
changing
helping
jumping
dreaming
laughing
bouncing
lounging
planning
enjoying
swinging
hanging
biking
playing
smiling
talking
sitting
nibbling

Yep...
it was just
like that.

some spider

Little Miss Muffet
sat on her tuffet...
eating her curds and whey.

And who can forget...

who wouldn't stop
until the job was
finished!

"Salutations!"

A single word
that has me remembering
Charlotte.

Back when I read this
aloud to my boys
I could barely
complete the last
chapter...
I was blubbering like a babe.

They looked at me as if
I was insane...

(boys!)

I remember saying...
but Charlotte died
all alone.

And so my love affair grew.

Last night as I walked
Mom to her car...
after an unexpected
and lovely visit...

I turned back
to go into the house

when something
caught my eye...

Look carefully...
see the web strand
that climbs
to the second story?

Let's take a closer look...

Another visitor.

Some freak out
by these unexpected guests.

Not I...

I see a pest...
moth...
fly trap!

She allowed me to
observe...
and take pictures
as she
created
 her masterpiece.

A very busy spider
indeed.

She circled
and turned as she
made her
spiral
beauty.

I would reassure her
with kind
encouraging words...

you are amazing...

you go girl!

thank you for choosing
my home
for your
home.

This morning I rushed outside
secretly expecting
a reply
like...

Some Woman...

or

Humble.

Sadly...
the web was gone.

The long strand to the second story
remains
and I saw my
Charlotte
hiding in the bush
below.

Some Spider!

noticing

A swirl of color
and light...

right
above our heads...

as we wait for our
order of
hummus
fatoosh
vegetarian grapeleaves...
and the freshest
baklava
I've ever tasted.

The low hanging clouds
with their
flat-bottoms
fill the sky.

A cup of hot tea
and
a game of Bananagrams
in the evening...
feels right.

The sharp angle
of the
morning
sun
against my
front yard garden.

A warm bowl
of oats
with
dates and walnuts...
drizzled with maple syrup...
is our newest
preference.

A splash of
bright and happy
green
is such a welcoming
sight.

The incongruous images
in my living room
make me chuckle
and
realize...

change...

it's a comin'.

finishing before starting

Second semester of 2011/2012
school year brought
many unforeseen
challenges.

2012-2013
has proven to begin
in much the
same fashion.

Challenges.

They are a wonderful and
scary part of life...
that must be greeted with
raw determination.

An answer to some degree...
the old adage...
finish something you started
before starting
something new.

We are applying that method
to our curriculum
choices.

Over the years we have
purchased many
good resources.

We turn to our book shelves
as we begin this new
school year.

Knowing all we need is right there...
or at the library...
at the computer...
in our Bibles...
around the corner...
in the form of a person
who
"has the answer we seek."

For now we will make do
with
what we have.

We will finish that book we started
and didn't get to finish...
because mom is a wee
bit enamoured with
a man named
Atticus.

"get out"

So...
I don't know if it is an exact
science...but
being a 90/10 vegan
means I am vegan
like 90% of the time.

Crap!

That's a whole lotta time
without loves like ...
cakes...scones...
chocolate chip cookies.

Or is it?!

Let me tell you...
Erin McKenna rocks.
So does my sister, Tina for getting
me her cookbook.

That's one way to get your
copy back
;)

Right now...
moments before
I am officially
"dressed for church"
I am nibbling on a chocolate chip
cookie
vegan-style...
while sipping my coffee.

"Get Out!"
you say?

No.
 Seriously...

here is the proof...
taken right before each and every
crumble
was devoured...

and it is/was
fantabulous!

Off to get dressed.
I just thought you should know.
