Treasure Hunt

One Persons Junk is Another Persons Treasure.
God bless those of like thinking.
In my opinion...
The Antique Barn in Toledo, Ohio
is filled with precious little gems.
Good Times... rummaging through shelf upon shelf of miscellaneous jewels. Row after row of
pirates booty.
Even better...
on a quest to find specific pieces...
for an old door in need of hardware, perhaps?
Treasure Found! The adrenaline was flowing strong... the gold I was searching for. Arghhhh...matey! Priced a bit high though... time for some bartering techniques. I rehearsed while I continued the hunt. Still needing hooks and an old mirror... at garage sale pricing.
Three chairs holding pots...
is that a clue?
Could be in a good mystery.
A wooden bin filled with vintage buttons.
A must stop and look moment.
A scooter that looks like it has more years left
than a new store bought counterpart!
Final Outcome of the Search:
Made an offer they couldn't refuse.
They refused :(
We're talking a difference of 3 Bucks!
It was tough...
BUT I walked!
I don't bluff on the barter.
Next Stop...
Lunch at a nearby "iconic" restaurant...
Red Wells
on
Sylvania Avenue
near Upton
The only restaurant my Dad would eat at.
(Don't ask...long story)
Famous (in these parts) for their hot roast beef sandwich.
A first for me!
Ordered right...on rye with horseradish!
Dad knows good!
The unassuming decor...
... perfect atmosphere to wallow (in gravy) in one's defeat.
This is not a sad ending.
This only means that the hunt is still on.
It's all about the thrill of the hunt!

  1. Funny! Ed and I were just talking about Red Wells the other day! Mom and Dad brought us there once for the open face roast beef sandwiches. Mmm! Fluffy, bad for you white bread! Definitely a Dad favorite!

  2. Rye is the way to go. Next time you guys are in town we'll have to get a "little bad" and have one for Dad.
