On a recent bike outing to
Downtown Toledo, OH
with my man...
we tripped along this
intersection.
It looked so nice
that I made him stop.
Fresh paint...
clean...well maintained walks...
new plantings
the shops were closed...
it was Memorial Day.
Don't you love it when an area
of the city decides
to tidy things up...
take pride in their surroundings?
Give it a little
character?
Right down to the
parking meters!
Each meter along this strip
was decked out
in its own unique crocheted
wrap.
Fast forward to this weekend
where I share this finding
with my sisters.
Tina informs all
that there is
"a movement"
going on
where "they" are doing this.
No sooner out of our
mouths when...
It started popping up
everywhere.
Have you heard about
"the movement"?
Yeah...
that's right...
I'm asking you to do
my homework
for me
and to tell me
what it's all
about.
I'm loving it.
I am planning on dressing
one of my trees
soon.
My hope...
that when the hot days of
summer come to a close...
and autumn breezes blow...
all the tree and meter scarves
will be gathered together...
like an offering...
and given to the people
who really need
them.
Maybe that IS the movement.
If not...
let's make it our
movement.
Are you with me?
Get hookin!
I looked it up, and it's called yarn bombing. There's also a day (June 9th) to celebrate yarn bombing. More on this blog:
